Cashiers is “going green” all summer long! Saturday, May 16th marks the kick-off of the Tailgate Farmers Market at the Cashiers Community Center. Nearly 20 vendors will converge on the Center to present locally grown, garden-fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as an eclectic blend of baked goods; plants, flowers and herbs; local honey; eggs and cheese; freshly caught trout and more.
Slated for every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the summer, Cashiers’ Tailgate Farmers Market will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Each Saturday, the market will highlight a lecture from a local expert – and the organizers of this long-awaited series hope to also feature live music, raffles, contests and prizes for attendees. Plans are underway for a special grand opening event on Saturday, May 23rd. Opportunities for additional vendors are still available and open to all native artists and craftsmen, as well as local growers. For more information or to register as a vendor, please contact organizers Buddy Dean at (828) 421-9458 or Donna Few at (828) 230-4785.
