Silver Creek Invites YOU to Join Us for The Leaf Festival of Cashiers Valley This Fall in Western North Carolina – October 8-10, 2009

There is no place on Earth quite like the mountains of North Carolina in the Fall. In the coming weeks – as the sun sets in the West on yet another cool autumn day, the trees will be set ablaze with vibrant color – fiery red, sunny yellow, pumpkin orange and chestnut brown. The air will suddenly seem crisper and cleaner, and the energy will be almost palpable. As locals, we realize that this incredible show lasts only a few precious weeks before the last leaf falls.  Therefore, this year we wish to invite our neighbors from near and far to share in the amazing transformation of our mountain vistas from a rolling sea of green trees to a veritable artist’s palette of the most breathtaking hues imaginable.

The Greater Cashiers Area Merchants Association has taken great care in planning The 2009 Leaf Festival of Cashiers Valley, sponsored in part by Coca-Cola.  This very special event will kick off Thursday evening, October 8 at 7 p.m. on the Cashiers Village Green as The Rye Holler Boys take the stage for “Groovin’ on the Green.” Don’t forget to bring your picnic blankets and dancing shoes! Friday & Saturday, October 9-10, will be packed full of fun for the whole family. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., The Village Green’s tree-lined streets will be transformed for the Artisan Festival and Enchanted Village – including the work of local artists, a merchants market, live music, and special children’s section featuring face painting, clowns, and trolley rides. The Leaf Festival will also feature an exciting Tour of Homes – which will include a driving tour of some of our most breathtaking mountain homes. Boat tours of beautiful Lake Glenville’s 1,400 acres of aquatic splendor will also be featured throughout the weekend to provide a “fish-eye’s” view of the changing leaves as they gently fall on the glasslike lake surface.  The weekend will end on a high note with a Concert on the Slopes of Sapphire Valley Resort courtesy of headliner and Grammy Award winner B.J. Thomas.  Thomas has sold more than 70 million albums, earned 2 Platinum and 11 Gold records, and topped the charts 15 times with memorable hits such as Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, Hooked on a Feeling and I Just Can’t Help Believing. Tickets for this fun-filled evening are just $30 or $50 for VIP tickets which include a reception with B.J. Thomas and are available through local merchants or through Sapphire Valley Resort.  To reserve your seat on the lawn, call the resort at 828-743-7663.
