Our days are filled with an abundance of wonderful things to see and do… from a leisurely day of fly fishing in a spring-fed stream near a waterfall to a challenging day on the links at one of many gracefully rolling mountain golf courses. November 4-7: Life With Father presented by the Highlands-Cashiers Players at the Martin-Lipscomb Performing Arts Center in Highlands. This timeless family drama revolves around the Day family: father, mother , their four red-headed sons and an assortment of friends and relatives. All are involved in the epic struggle between Father and Mother who is determined to have Father properly baptized. Directed by Ronnie Spilton. Tickets $20/person. November 7: Nantahala Hiking Club will be meeting at the Macon County Health Center parking lot at 2 p.m. for an easy 1.2 mile hike on Lakeside Drive Trail, to walk through woods and fields. November 11-14: The Highlands 4th Annual Culinary Weekend – Participating restaurants, chefs and wineries will kick the weekend off at The Bascom for an amazing night of food, wine and fun by presenting a small sampling of what the weekend will behold. November 12: …on the Verandah Restaurant hosts Highlands Culinary Weekend’s Chateau Montelena Wine Dinner with Winemaker Cameron Parry at 6 p.m. The famous winery that won the Paris tasting of 1976 presents a five-course meal from the …on the Verandah culinary team. The tasting will include the highly rated 2006 Estate Cabernet Souvignon (92 pts.), 2006 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (87 pts.), 2008 Napa Chardonnay (90 pts.). November 12: The Farm at Old Edwards hosts Highlands Culinary Weekend’s Fall Harvest Beringer Wine Dinner – A Beringer, Bluegrass and Blue Jeans Fall Fest featuring Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Bluegrass Boys Live. Executive Chef Johannes Klapdohr will pull out all the stops for this annual Culinary Weekend event. This is a one-of-a-kind gathering in celebration of great wines and seasonal harvests from local sustainable farms, including Old Edwards own organic garden.
